Flywire makes it possible for you to make payments by wiring funds in your local currency.
In some countries, we leverage a multi-currency account (MCA) in London to enable local payments out of your home country. This allows us to take care of all currency conversion on your behalf.
To make a bank transfer to this account in your local currency, please follow these steps:
- Visit your bank’s website or physically go to your bank branch with the Flywire payment instructions we provided when you booked your payment
- Instruct your bank that Flywire needs to receive the funds in your local currency.
Please note: In most cases, funds will be returned if we receive the funds in a different currency. Our MCA only accepts the currency stated in your payment request. If you send a different currency, the payment will either be returned or converted to your home currency by the bank, resulting in additional charges for you
- Your bank may decide to use an intermediary bank. If this is the case, ensure that your bank knows to leave the payment in your local currency and will not do any additional conversion.
- Eliminating the need for conversion, makes your bank transfer quick and easy for you. If your bank has questions regarding the transfer to Flywire, show the bank your authorization letter, which your institution can provide
