When you create a payment request, Flywire may ask for payer information, payment-related information, and supporting documents.
The required information depends on your institution or organization, payment country or region, payment method, and payment type.
Payer information
Payer information is the information of the person who is actually making the payment.
This may include:
- Full legal name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Full residential address
- Country or region
- Payment method details, when required
The payer information should match the person who owns the bank account, card, digital wallet, or loan account used for the payment.
If someone else is paying on your behalf, enter the information of the person making the payment, unless your selected payment method gives different instructions.
How to enter the payer name
Enter the payer’s name exactly as it appears on their identity document and payment account.
If the payer has a middle name or additional given name, include it in the appropriate field. If the payer does not have a middle name, leave the middle name field blank.
Do not enter the name of a bank, business, or organization as the payer unless that name is shown as the account holder for the payment method.
Use the Latin alphabet when entering payer details, unless the payment form gives different instructions.
For example, enter the name as Wei Zhang instead of using non-Latin characters.
How to enter the payer address
Enter the full residential address of the person making the payment.
The address should include:
- Street name
- House number, apartment number, or building name
- City
- State, province, or region, if applicable
- Postal code, if applicable
- Country or region
Do not use only a P.O. Box as the payer address. A full residential address is usually required for payment review and processing.
Payment-related information
Your institution or organization may also ask for information that helps identify who or what the payment is for.
Depending on the payment, this may include:
- Student ID
- Application ID
- Invoice number
- Patient ID
- Date of birth
- Program name
- Other reference numbers requested by your institution or organization
Flywire displays these fields based on the information requested by your institution or organization.
Documents that may be required
Some payment methods may require additional documents before Flywire can review or process your payment.
When you select a payment method, check the Important info section on the payment method page. This section may explain what information or documents are required for that payment option.
Depending on your payment country or region, payment method, and review requirements, you may be asked to provide documents such as:
- Payer identity document
- Invoice or payment bill
- Proof of enrollment or study
- Other documents required for payment review
After you create your payment request, follow the instructions shown on your payment page to upload any required documents.
What if I do not know my student ID or reference number?
If you do not know a required student ID, invoice number, application ID, patient ID, or other reference number, contact your institution or organization before submitting your payment request.
Flywire displays the information requested by your institution or organization, but Flywire cannot confirm which ID or reference number you should use for your payment.
Why Flywire may ask you to update your information
Flywire may ask you to update your payment request if the payer information is incomplete, unclear, or cannot be used for payment review.
This may happen if:
- The payer name is incomplete
- The payer name does not match the account holder, cardholder, digital wallet owner, or loan borrower
- The payer address is incomplete
- The payer address only shows a P.O. Box
- The payer name or address is entered in a non-Latin alphabet when Latin characters are required
If Flywire asks you to update your information, follow the instructions in the email you receive. Your payment may not continue processing until the required information is provided.
What if the payer is different from the student, patient, or recipient?
That can be normal if someone else is paying on behalf of the student, patient, applicant, or recipient.
Enter the payer information for the person making the payment. Then enter the student, patient, applicant, invoice, or recipient details requested by your institution or organization.
