If you wish to make an International Bank Transfer using a foreign currency from China, please follow the steps and guidelines below to ensure your funds are delivered smoothly.
Important Note: Transfer Amount and Bank Charges
When making an International Bank Transfer in a foreign currency from China, to ensure Flywire receives the exact amount displayed on your payment request, you must select "OUR/DEBT" (sender bears all charges) in the "Details of charges" field when filling out your transfer form.
If your sending bank does not offer this option, we recommend adding approximately $30 USD (or equivalent) to your total transfer amount to cover potential intermediary bank fees.
Steps to Initiate Your Payment from China
- On the payment option selection page, scroll to the bottom and click "I want to pay in another currency".
- Select the foreign currency you wish to pay in.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to accurately fill in your Payer Information.
- Once your payment request is created, Flywire will provide the offshore account details. Please make sure to save or download your payment instruction document.
How to Complete Your International Bank Transfer from China
After obtaining your payment instruction, you can complete your payment using one of the following methods:
- Online banking/Mobile banking: Initiate the transfer yourself through your personal bank's digital platforms.
- In-person visit to bank: Print your payment instruction and visit your local bank branch to complete the transfer at the counter. (Note: Due to local regulations, some Chinese banks may require you to complete cross-border payments in person).

Don't forget your Payment ID: Please enter your Flywire Payment ID in the remittance message (汇款附言/留言) so we can track and identify your funds.
Need proof for the bank? If your bank requires additional documentation, your downloaded Flywire instructions include an official Authorization Letter. You can show this to the teller as proof of our partnership with your institution.
What Happens After You Complete Your Payment?
Time to receive funds
Typically, it can take up to 3 business days for Flywire's offshore account to receive the funds (exact timeframes vary by bank). You can contact your bank to confirm when the funds will be dispatched.
Confirmation of funds received
Once Flywire's offshore bank receives your transfer, we will send you a confirmation email, and your institution will also be notified at the same time.
Final delivery
Your funds will be processed and delivered to your institution within the next 1 to 2 business days. You will receive a final confirmation email once complete.
