When creating a payment request and selecting "Bank Transfer in INR" as your payment method, you will be required to provide the Payer’s Permanent Account Number (PAN).
Our platform performs a real-time verification with the Indian Income Tax Department's database. If the details entered do not match official records, an error message ("Please include a valid name") will appear, and you will be unable to proceed.
How to ensure your PAN details are correct
To avoid delays, the name you enter on Flywire must exactly match the name registered on your PAN card and your bank account. You can verify your official details on the government portal:
Step 1: Access the government portal
Visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal at: www.incometax.gov.in
Step 2: Locate the verification link
Click on the "Verify Your PAN" link found under the "Quick Links" section on the left-hand side.
Step 3: Enter and submit details
Enter your PAN, Full Name (exactly as it appears on the card), and Date of Birth to confirm your "Active" status and registered name.
💡 Tips for a smooth payment:
- Link your Aadhaar: Ensure your PAN is linked to your Aadhaar card. An "Inoperative PAN" may result in a higher TCS tax rate.
- Name Consistency: The name on your PAN must match the name on the bank account used to send funds.
What if I still see a PAN verification error?
If you continue to see an error after confirming your details on the government website, please perform a quick self-check:
✅ PAN Troubleshooting Checklist:
- No Extra Spaces: Remove any leading or trailing spaces in the Name or PAN fields.
- Exact Name Match: Enter the name exactly as shown (e.g., if the card says "Rahul S Kumar", do not type "Rahul Kumar").
- Character Check: Ensure you haven't confused the letter "O" with the number "0".
- Status Selection: Ensure you have selected "Individual" status.
