When making a payment using RMB Bank Transfer (人民币银行转账), you are required to provide the actual payer’s Mainland Chinese National Identity card details. This is required by local foreign exchange regulations and is used for verification.
Payer Requirements for RMB Bank Transfers
This payment method is only available to Mainland Chinese citizens using a valid Mainland Chinese National Identity card.
- If the payer uses a passport or any other type of identification, verification will fail automatically.
- In this case, you will need to cancel your current payment request and choose a different payment method, such as UnionPay online, Visa, Mastercard, or International Bank Transfer.
What Chinese National Identity card details are required?
When creating your payment request, please enter the details of the actual bank account holder making the payment:
- Payer’s Name: Enter the name exactly as shown on the Chinese National Identity card, using Chinese characters (do not use Pinyin or English).
- Identity Card Number: Enter the standard 18-digit Mainland Chinese National Identity card number.
- Match the Bank Account: The information must match the bank account holder. For example, if a parent or relative is paying on your behalf, you should enter their Chinese National Identity card details, not the student’s.
Important: If the Chinese National Identity card details do not match the actual bank account holder, the verification will fail and may delay or interrupt your RMB Bank Transfer.

How long does Chinese National Identity card verification take?
Once you update the payer's information, your payment request will automatically be resubmitted for verification. This new review process typically takes 24–48 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays), and you will be notified of the result via email.
To avoid payment delays, please update your information as soon as you receive the notification. If the final verification fails or is not corrected in time, your payment request may be canceled and the funds will be returned.
