What is an intermediary bank? Why is Flywire’s bank account in London?
An intermediary bank is a bank that helps route an international transfer from the sender’s bank to the beneficiary bank.
Your Flywire payment instructions may include intermediary bank details, or your bank may ask for them when you send the transfer.
If intermediary bank details are provided, use them only as supporting routing information. Your payment should still be sent to the beneficiary bank account shown in your Flywire payment instructions.
Do not enter the intermediary bank as the final beneficiary or recipient of the payment. If you do, your payment may not be received correctly.
Always follow the beneficiary bank details and any intermediary bank details shown in your latest Flywire payment instructions.
Why is Flywire’s bank account in London?
For some payment routes, Flywire may use a multi-currency account in London to receive local currency payments and support currency conversion.
This means your payment may be in your local currency, but the beneficiary account may be located in London.
Please use the bank account details shown in your Flywire payment instructions.
Why did the beneficiary bank account change?
Flywire may update bank account details to support payment processing, local collection options, exchange rates, or processing times.
Each time you create a payment request, Flywire provides the bank details for that specific payment.
Always use the most recent payment instructions for your current payment request.
What is my Flywire due date for a bank transfer?
Your Flywire due date is usually the date by which you should send the bank transfer from your bank account.
This is not always the date by which Flywire must receive your funds, and it may be different from the payment deadline set by your institution or organization.
You can find your Flywire due date in your payment instructions and on your tracking page. This date is based on when you created your Flywire payment request.
If you send the transfer by the Flywire due date, your payment request usually will not be cancelled just because Flywire has not received the funds yet. Bank processing time is normally taken into account.
If you cannot send the transfer by your Flywire due date, create a new payment request to get updated payment instructions.
What if I can’t include my Payment ID in my bank transfer?
Include your Flywire Payment ID in the transfer reference, remittance information, concept, notes, or message field whenever possible.
If your bank does not allow you to enter the full Payment ID, enter as much of the Payment ID as possible.
Your Payment ID helps Flywire identify your funds and match them to your payment request. If you cannot include it, Flywire may still use other available details, such as payer information and transfer details, to review and match your payment.
If your bank transfer has been sent but you have not received a confirmation email from Flywire after 3 business days, you may need to submit proof of payment so Flywire can review your transfer.
