The Domestic Bank Transfer method allows you to generate a set of Flywire payment instructions and manually transfer funds from your Indian bank account using NEFT or RTGS. Before creating your payment request, please review the strict requirements below to avoid delays or rejected payments.
Important requirements for INR domestic transfers
- Authorized payers: Due to Indian TCS regulations, the payer must be the student or an immediate family member, such as a parent, sibling, spouse, or parent-in-law. Payments made by friends, cousins, uncles, or aunts will be rejected.
- Name matching: The payer information you enter on Flywire must exactly match the name of the bank account holder sending the funds.
- Accepted account types: We only accept payments from resident Indian savings or individual accounts. You cannot use NRE/NRO accounts, company accounts, partnership firms, HUF, or trust funds. If you hold an NRE/NRO account, please choose an "International bank transfer in a foreign currency" payment method instead.
- Supported transfer methods: You must use NEFT or RTGS to send the funds. Please do not use IMPS, as it causes severe tracking issues.
Steps to complete your INR bank transfer
1. Select your payment method: Select "Domestic Bank Transfer in Indian Rupees (INR)" as your payment method on Flywire.
2. Complete the Payer Information section: When filling out this form, please follow these rules to avoid severe payment delays:
- Matching names: The first and family names you enter must perfectly match the name on the bank account that will send the funds.
- Local address: You must provide the payer's physical address located in India only.
- Valid relationship: The payer relationship selected must be either the student or an immediate family member.
- Accurate PAN details: The PAN (Permanent Account Number) must exactly match the bank account holder sending the funds or the primary applicant of the education loan.
3. Download your instructions: Once you successfully submit your LRS Declaration online, download your unique Flywire Payment Instructions. Please always use the specific account details generated for your current Payment ID, as our bank accounts change frequently.
4. Send your funds: Log in to your personal online banking or visit your bank branch to transfer the exact amount using NEFT or RTGS.
5. Verification and tracking: After you send the funds, our local partners require 2-3 business days to verify your payment for TCS compliance. Your Flywire status will remain "Pending" during this time, and will update to "Received" once verified.
