You can check your refund status in two ways:
1. Email Updates
Flywire will notify you by email when:
- We receive your refund from your institution.
- Additional account information is needed.
- The refund has been sent to your originating account.
2. Flywire Account (For linked payments only)
- Log in to your Flywire account.
- Go to "My Account" > "My Payments".
- Click "VIEW REFUND" under the payment ID linked to your refund.
Refund Statuses Explained
- Initiated: Your institution has started the refund process, but Flywire has not received the funds yet.
- Received: Flywire has received the refund. We’ll notify you once the funds are sent to your originating account. If additional verification information is needed, we’ll email you as well.
- Finished: Your refund has been sent! Most refunds arrive within 5–10 business days back to your originating account, but some may take longer depending on the currency and payment method.
- Cancelled: Your institution has cancelled the refund. You can check the cancellation date in your account. If you’re unsure why or need to request a new refund, please contact your institution.
